ALMA Criticizes President's Statements on Controversial Video

Published January 10, 2026, 11:20

The ALMA-Citizens for Cyprus movement has criticized the President's statements regarding the recently circulated video, characterizing them as an attempt to avoid answering serious questions about the black donations scandal. ALMA argues that the President's statements are an effort to retroactively legitimize practices that are outside the institutional framework and illegal. Furthermore, ALMA states that the President publicly acknowledges the role of his son-in-law, Charalambos Charalambous, and his friend, Giorgos Lakkotrypis, in attracting and licensing foreign investments, presenting this involvement as legitimate. The movement calls for an immediate investigation by the Anti-Corruption Authority and the European Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as the resignations of the President's son-in-law and his wife from their positions.
