Bloody Jihadist Attack in Niger Claims 31 Lives

At least 31 civilians were killed in a jihadist attack in western Niger, near the borders with Burkina Faso and Mali. The attack took place in the village of Bosigé, an area that is a stronghold for jihadist organizations. The “tri-border” region has become particularly dangerous, with the Tillabéri region recording over 1,200 deaths in 2025, mostly civilians. This attack is part of a broader increase in violence by jihadist groups, including organizations linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State. Niger is also facing attacks from Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa. The country has been governed by a military junta since July 2023, which has distanced itself from Western partners and turned towards Russia.
