Awkwardness, Glances, Boasts About Nuclear Weapons: Witkof Revealed What Happened in the Negotiation with Iranians in Geneva That Brought War

Former US Special Envoy for Iran Robert Witkof revealed details of the negotiations with Iranians in Geneva, which ended in a deadlock and led to the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. According to Witkof, Iranian officials declared their intention to continue enriching uranium to levels capable of producing nuclear weapons. Witkof described moments of awkwardness and tension during the talks, stating that Iranian officials presented their nuclear ambitions with pride. They rejected the US proposal for a ten-year suspension of uranium enrichment, while two Iranian negotiators admitted that Tehran has enough enriched uranium to build up to 11 nuclear bombs. Witkof accused the Iranians of having no intention of making concessions and of using the negotiations as a pretext to continue their nuclear program. The US side, according to Witkof, went into the negotiations in good faith but soon realized that an agreement was impossible. Witkof's revelations shed light on the difficulties and challenges faced by the US in its efforts to curb Iran's nuclear program.
