DISY Postpones Discussion on Sykas' Candidacy Pending Supreme Court Decision

The Democratic Rally (DISY) has postponed the discussion regarding the inclusion of MP Nikos Sykas on the party's ballot for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The postponement was decided until the completion of the process before the Supreme Court regarding the lifting of his parliamentary immunity. The party leadership justifies the decision by the fact that the application for the lifting of Mr. Sykas' immunity is pending, in order for the Police to take a statement from him as part of an investigation into a complaint against him. The discussion will be resumed after the Supreme Court issues its decision. The announcement emphasizes that the statement of the Party President and the recommendation of the Executive Bureau remain in effect until the new discussion. The decision on whether to include Mr. Sykas on the ballot will be made when it is clear whether the police investigation will continue or not.
