Phytiris Responds to Criticism Regarding 'Selective Investigations' into Annie Alexui's Videos

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Phytiris, responded to questions regarding criticism of 'selective investigations' into videos posted by Ioanna Fotiou (Annie Alexui) and investigations into organized crime. He stated that the Police are evaluating all videos and that he cannot confirm whether a team will travel to Russia to take a statement from Fotiou. The Minister emphasized the government's political commitment to combating organized crime and stressed that the functioning of the state is based on laws and rules, calling on anyone with information to submit it to the authorities. He explained that the Police are on constant alert and will intensify their operations, but evidence and testimonies are needed to proceed with prosecutions. Referring to the task force for organized crime, he clarified that the supervision of the Police is his political responsibility, but operational command belongs to the Chief of Police. He explained that his role is to ensure public safety and provide the Police with the necessary resources. Finally, the Minister referred to the new legislation on economic crime, describing it as an important tool for the state, as it will allow the Police and other services to identify and prosecute those who violate the law. Regarding the criticism of selective investigations, the Minister stated that the Police are evaluating all information and will conduct the necessary investigations.
