Έντονη συζήτηση έχει προκαλέσει το μέλλον του Τι Τζέι Σορτς στον Παναθηναϊκό, με το ενδεχόμενο να βγει στην αγορά το προσεχές καλοκαίρι να συγκεντρώνει ήδη μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον.
Μιλώντας στην εκπομπή «Πάρε Βάλε» στο κανάλι της KingBet, ο Τόλης Κοτζιάς αναφέρθηκε στην περίπτωση του Αμερικανού γκαρντ και άφησε ανοιχτό ενδεχόμενο εξελίξεων στο τέλος της σεζόν. Όπως σημείωσε: «Ο κοντός που μπορεί να κινηθεί, αν και το τέλος μετράει ειδικά στην Ελλάδα, είναι ο Σορτς. Ένας παίκτης που τον ήθελε η μισή Ευρώπη και θα τον θέλει η μισή Ευρώπη. Πήγε σε ένα από τα κορυφαία club του πλανήτη, όπως είναι ο Παναθηναϊκός».
Ο Κοτζιάς τόνισε πως η φετινή σεζόν δεν έχει κυλήσει όπως περίμενε ούτε ο παίκτης, ούτε η τεχνική ηγεσία: «Τα πράγματα δεν έχουν εξελιχθεί όπως θα ήθελε ο παίκτης και προφανώς και ο Αταμάν από την πλευρά του ίσως να ήθελε κάτι διαφορετικό, μια μεγαλύτερη βοήθεια από τον Σορτς».
Παράλληλα πρόσθεσε: «Η ομάδα είναι πάνω απ’ όλα σε τέτοιες καταστάσεις και ο Παναθηναϊκός δεν έχει πάρει το αποτέλεσμα που θέλει. Θα δούμε το καλοκαίρι τι θα γίνει. Το τέλος είναι εκείνο που μετράει. Τα δεδομένα αλλάζουν. Ο αθλητής μια απόφαση που μπορεί να πάρει έτσι, μπορεί να αλλάξει».
Κλείνοντας, υπογράμμισε ότι αν ο Σορτς βρεθεί στην αγορά, θα γίνει από τα πιο «καυτά» ονόματα της EuroLeague: «Αν ο Σορτς βγει στην αγορά, κάτι που με τα τωρινά δεδομένα θεωρείται πιθανό, θα γίνει ένας… χαμός».
