New Bills Submitted to Parliament Regarding Foreclosures

The Ministry of Finance has submitted two bills to Parliament concerning foreclosures. The first bill concerns the operation of the Unified Extrajudicial Settlement of Financial Disputes Body and makes the decisions of the Financial Commissioner binding for disputes up to €20,000. If the debtor does not agree with the debt restructuring through the Commissioner, they have the option to appeal to an Insolvency Practitioner. The second bill, regarding the transfer and mortgage of properties, provides more time for the Financial Commissioner and the debtor to find a solution, starting the process from letter I instead of IA. The aim of the bills is to improve the process of extrajudicial dispute resolution and provide more opportunities for debtors to negotiate and restructure their debts before the foreclosure process begins. These bills are part of the government's efforts to address the problem of non-performing loans and protect borrowers.
