RIK Removes Motorcycle Scenes and Responds to Critics: 'Jalla' Receives Warm Reception

RIK responded to the reactions caused by the song "Jalla" that will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Director General of RIK, Thanasis Tsokos, stated that the channel does not share the comparisons with events in museums and that the Eurovision contest aims to unite. Mr. Tsokos stated that the clip has been warmly received online and that reactions from experts and fans of the contest are positive, as it presents the contrast between traditional and modern Cyprus. In addition, he informed that the scenes that did not comply with road safety rules have been removed from the clip and will be re-uploaded by the European Broadcasting Union. Mr. Tsokos emphasized that the Eurovision contest contributes to the acceptance of all without discrimination and to building bridges between countries. He also underlined that Cyprus's participation aims to present the Cypriot diaspora and its traditions, through a modern look. RIK defended Cyprus's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, emphasizing the contest's goal of uniting and celebrating diversity, while assuring that measures have been taken for safety and compliance with the rules.
