Indonesian authorities have announced the discovery of the wreckage of the surveillance aircraft that went missing yesterday in South Sulawesi province, near a fog-covered mountain. Searches for the 11 people on board are ongoing. The aircraft, an ATR 42-500, belonged to Indonesia Air Transport and was on a mission for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The area is mountainous, and the weather conditions, with fog and strong winds, are hampering rescue operations. The aircraft lost contact with air traffic control while en route to Makassar.
