Turkish Vice President Reiterates Call for 'Two-State Solution' in Cyprus

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz reiterated Turkey's position for a 'two-state solution' in Cyprus upon his arrival in the occupied territories. He argued that the most realistic solution is the coexistence of two states side-by-side, based on the recognition of the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people and sovereign equality. Mr. Yilmaz referred to the need to end the isolation of the pseudo-state, calling for direct flights, trade, and contacts. He also condemned references to the presence of the Turkish army in Cyprus, arguing that it ensures peace for both communities. Turkey pledged to continue supporting the pseudo-state and protecting the rights of Turkish Cypriots.
