The Accountant General of Cyprus, Andreas Antoniades, informed the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions that donations to the Independent Social Support Fund have quadrupled since 2023 compared to previous years. Specifically, donations amounted to €560,914 in 2020, €368,091 in 2021, €260,100 in 2022, €2,269,005 in 2023, €2,176,196 in 2024, and €2,049,909 in 2025. Mr. Antoniades emphasized that all donations are made via bank transfer to the Central Bank and not in cash. This information was provided ahead of a discussion on the institutional implications of a video containing allegations against the government. Mr. Antoniades pledged to return with an opinion from the Legal Service regarding the possibility of disclosing details about the donations, taking into account the protection of personal data.
