“Commitment” by Diplaros: National Cancer Institute Bill to Parliament Before Dissolution

The President of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Efthymios Diplaros, announced that the bill for the National Cancer Institute will be put to a vote in Parliament before its dissolution. For this purpose, an emergency meeting of the Committee has been scheduled for Monday at 9:30 am to complete the clause-by-clause discussion. Mr. Diplaros characterized the passage of the bill as a demand of all organizations, medical centers and civil society, after years of discussion. The Institute will have a supervisory role and will coordinate the efforts of other stakeholders in the field of oncology. DHKO MP Andreas Apostolou expressed his satisfaction with the development, emphasizing that the passage of the bill is the result of years of struggle. The Institute will revise the national cancer strategy and deal with issues of prevention, research, care and treatment. The passage of the bill is expected to contribute to the better organization and coordination of cancer services in Cyprus.
