Lecture on Public Perceptions of the Green Line in the Early Years After 1963 at the Leventis Municipal Museum

The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, the Friends of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the A. G. Leventis Gallery present a series of five lectures dedicated to the memory of Lellos Dimitriades (3.2.1933 – 9.4.2022), Mayor of Nicosia (1971–2001), who pioneered the vision of a united city. The third lecture in the series, entitled “Public perceptions of the Green Line in the early years after its imposition (1964–1967): Rejection or gradual acceptance?”, examines the reactions of residents to the division of Nicosia in the years following 1963 and how this new reality shaped their perceptions of the city's future. The speaker is Dr. Petros Papapolyviou, historian and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Cyprus. Participation is free, but reservation is required.
