Renovated Ammochostos Gate Reopens in Nicosia

The renovated Ammochostos Gate in Nicosia was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Vasiliki Kassianidou. The renovation, which cost almost one million euros, aimed to preserve and highlight the monument, which had been damaged by floods in 2018. The Ammochostos Gate will be utilized in various ways during the Cypriot Presidency, and the renovation was carried out with respect for its historical value and with minimal intervention. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of promoting the cultural heritage of Nicosia, especially in light of Cyprus's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Preserving cultural heritage is a collective responsibility and a long-term endeavor.
