EU: Most Countries Give Green Light to 'Mercosur' Deal

Most EU countries appear to be giving the green light to the approval of the Mercosur agreement, according to discussions held at the ambassadorial level. Italy has changed its position and now supports the agreement, following guarantees for the agricultural sector. Formal approval is expected later today, allowing European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to sign the agreement in Paraguay this weekend. The Mercosur agreement is expected to be the EU's largest trade agreement, but still requires the approval of the European Parliament.
