Shameful Scenes in Greece: Referee Attacked After Match

Shameful scenes unfolded after the end of the match between Omiri Kallimasias and Kanari Neniton at the Kallimasia stadium, with the female refereeing team being subjected to verbal and physical assault by a man protesting the decisions. According to testimonies, the man attacked the refereeing team, resulting in the second assistant, Angeliki Oikonomopoulou, being injured and needing to be taken to hospital for first aid. The other two referees filed a complaint against the perpetrator, who was arrested on the spot. The incident was condemned by the local community and sports authorities, and further developments are expected regarding the punishment of the perpetrator and the protection of referees.

Σκηνές ντροπής εκτυλίχθηκαν το απόγευμα του Σαββάτου (17/1) στο γήπεδο της Καλλιμασιάς, αμέσως μετά τη λήξη της αναμέτρησης ανάμεσα σε Όμηρο Καλλιμασιάς και Κανάρη Νενήτων για τη 10η αγωνιστική της Α’ κατηγορίας της ΕΠΣ Χίου.
Σύμφωνα με μαρτυρίες, η γυναικεία διαιτητική τριάδα που αποτελούνταν από τις Αγγελική Κατσάλα, Ανθή Σελλή και Αγγελίνα Οικονομοπούλου, δέχθηκε φραστική και σωματική επίθεση από συγκεκριμένο άτομο που διαμαρτυρόταν έντονα, θεωρώντας πως η ομάδα του αδικήθηκε.
Ο έλεγχος χάθηκε πλήρως, με αποτέλεσμα η δεύτερη βοηθός, Αγγελίνα Οικονομοπούλου, να τραυματιστεί και να μεταφερθεί αμέσως στο νοσοκομείο όπου της παρασχέθηκαν οι πρώτες βοήθειες.
Δύο εκ των τριών διαιτητών προχώρησαν σε μήνυση, γεγονός που οδήγησε στη σύλληψη του φερόμενου ως δράστη στο πλαίσιο του αυτοφώρου.
