Oil Prices Soar as Conflict Escalates

International oil prices are recording a significant increase, as the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East intensifies fears of disruptions to the global energy supply chain and rekindles inflation. Brent rose by about 8%, while WTI by 7.33%, due to military operations in Iran and the assessment that the conflict is not expected to de-escalate soon. The Strait of Hormuz is at the center of concern, with the risk of interrupting the passage of about 15 million barrels per day. A prolonged rise in energy prices is expected to strengthen inflationary pressures worldwide. OPEC+ agreed to a limited increase in production, but safe transport remains uncertain.
