Europol Officials Visit Cyprus – Focus on Combating Serious and Organized Crime and Intelligence-Led Policing

A delegation from Europol is visiting Cyprus at the initiative of the Chief of Police, Themistos Arnautis, as part of the “Cyprus Police 2030” modernization program. The visit aims to strengthen the operational capacity and effectiveness of the Cyprus Police, with an emphasis on the implementation of intelligence-led policing and the fight against serious and organized crime. Europol will provide expertise and specialized guidance on the design and implementation of modern analytical and operational practices. This collaboration is directly linked to the creation of the new Organized Crime Unit (OCU), which is a central element of the modernization process. The Chief of Police met with the Secretary of the Europol Management Board, Borja Barbosa De Miquel, to exchange views and coordinate actions for the upcoming meeting of the Europol Management Board in Cyprus, during the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The visit of the Europol delegation and the cooperation with the Cyprus Police are an important step in strengthening security and combating modern criminal threats.
