Zelensky from London: Bases in Cyprus an Example for European Defense

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, visited the United Kingdom and in a speech referred to the British Bases in Cyprus, characterizing them as an example for European defense. He suggested that the Ukrainian proposal for security could resemble this model, emphasizing the need for strengthening defense across Europe. During his visit, Zelensky met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles, discussing the continued support of the West for Ukraine, military aid, and cooperation in the field of the defense industry. The British Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to stand with Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” Zelensky stressed the need for protection against drone attacks, stating that such long-range attacks are becoming increasingly frequent. He added that drones can be launched not only from land but also from ships at sea. He also expressed concern about the division between Western leaders and the impact this will have on the wars in Ukraine and Iran. He suggested that Trump and Starmer meet to find common ground.
