Valentina Sofocleous Honored for Contribution to Intercultural Dialogue in Istanbul

Valentina Sofocleous, artistic director of the Roes Theatre, was honored for her contribution to intercultural dialogue in Istanbul. During an event in Larnaca, attended by journalists and collaborators, Ms. Sofocleous referred to the theatre's rich work, both in Cyprus and abroad, and its crucial contribution to promoting Cypriot culture in Europe and Asia. She also highlighted the creation of the World Theatre Organization ETA, which today has members from more than 60 countries. Her speech included strong criticism of the Deputy Ministry of Culture for rejecting proposals from the Roes Theatre for funding, while also announcing new theatre initiatives abroad, such as its participation in Portugal in 2026 with the play “Foreign Refugee Women” and at the Analogio Festival in Athens in September. The Deputy Mayor of Larnaca, Iason Iasonidis, congratulated Ms. Sofocleous for her contribution to the cultural life of the city and Cyprus.
