The Cypriot Dialect and the Duty of the Written Word

On the occasion of the celebration of the World Greek Language Day, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized an event at the National Library. The President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, emphasized the importance of the written word as the foundation of culture, comparing it to the 'flame' of Prometheus. The article highlights the value of the Cypriot dialect as an integral part of the Greek language, which retains many ancient elements. The author, Lysandros Lysandrou, calls for the continuous recording and development of the Cypriot dialect through the written word, in order to preserve its cultural heritage.
