ISIS Claims Responsibility for Deadly Kabul Restaurant Blast

The Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on a Chinese restaurant in Kabul, Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of at least seven people and injuries to many others. According to the Amaq news agency, affiliated with ISIS, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber. The organization justifies the attack as a response to the "crimes of the Chinese government against the Uyghurs," a Muslim minority living in China. The restaurant was located in one of the most secure areas of Kabul, home to government buildings, shopping centers, and embassies. It was managed by a Chinese Muslim, Abdul Majeed, along with his wife and an Afghan partner. The explosion, which occurred in the restaurant's kitchen, killed six Afghans and one Chinese national. Videos circulating on social media show the damage to the restaurant and smoke billowing from the building. The humanitarian organization EMERGENCY reported receiving 20 injured people, including four women and one child. Sadly, seven people were pronounced dead at the hospital. This attack comes after the Taliban took power in 2021, pledging to restore security to Afghanistan. However, bombings continue, with ISIS claiming responsibility for several of them.
