Demand for Small Electric Vehicles 'Made in EU'

The proposal of the European Commission for the production of small electric vehicles 'made in EU' through so-called supercredits was discussed at the Environment Council in Brussels. The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafiadis, stressed the importance of ensuring European content in vehicle manufacturing and strengthening the European automotive industry. Commissioner for Climate, Wopke Hoekstra, emphasized that the production of small electric vehicles in the EU will boost industry, create jobs and facilitate the transition of consumers to zero-emission vehicles. The discussion also focused on amending the CO2 emission standards for cars and light commercial vehicles, with Mr. Vafiadis pointing out the challenges facing the European automotive industry and the need to reduce emissions.
