‘Dragon’s’ Arrival in Cyprus Delayed Due to Limited Operating Hours

The arrival of the British Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyer Dragon in Cyprus is delayed due to the limited operating hours of the naval base at Portsmouth, where it is undergoing preparation. According to the Prospect union, the Ministry of Defence has imposed a strict schedule (9 am - 5 pm) to reduce costs, delaying the ship's preparation. Serco, the company managing the port, disputes the allegations, stating that the schedule is broader and overtime is available. In addition to preparation, the Dragon also requires maintenance in a dry dock, which will further delay its arrival in Cyprus. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing criticism for the delay in deciding to send the ship to the Middle East after the start of the conflict.
