Indonesia: Wreckage of Missing Aircraft with 11 Aboard Found

Indonesian authorities have located the wreckage of a surveillance aircraft that went missing yesterday in South Sulawesi province. The ATR 42-500 aircraft, belonging to Indonesia Air Transport, lost contact with air traffic control while flying to Makassar. The aircraft was carrying eight crew members and three passengers, all employees of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. A search operation involving 1,200 personnel has been launched to locate the 11 people on board. The search is being hampered by the mountainous terrain, fog, and strong winds. The aircraft was flying at a low altitude before contact was lost.
