Record Year for Cyprus Tourism

2025 is expected to be a record year for tourism in Cyprus, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis. An increase of over 12% has been recorded in visitor arrivals compared to 2024, while tourism revenue has achieved a pan-European leading position in the first half of the year. Mr. Koumis highlighted the improvement in air connectivity with various destinations, as well as the significant increase in the German market. Germany, historically the largest tourism market globally, was until recently a small market for Cyprus, with its best performance being 250,000 arrivals in 1997. However, in 2025, Cyprus managed to break this record, achieving a new milestone after 28 years. This increase is due to collaborations with the private sector and targeted actions to attract more German tourists. The Deputy Minister of Tourism mentioned that the improvement in air connectivity with Germany concerns both airports in Cyprus, while emphasizing the preference of German tourists to visit various regions of the country, which contributes to the distribution of tourism benefits throughout the Republic of Cyprus.
