Ioannidis: Precautionary Measures in Cyprus - Daily Life Continues Normally

The Undersecretary for Migration, Nikola Ioannidis, stated that Cyprus is taking precautionary security measures due to developments in the Middle East, but daily life continues normally. Cyprus is not involved in military operations in the region. At the Council of Internal Affairs, the agenda will focus on the return of migrants, the security of the EU in light of developments in the Middle East, and the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum. Ioannidis emphasized the importance of the interoperability of European information systems for border management. The working lunch of the ministers will discuss the impact of developments in Syria and Iran on EU security, as well as the future of Europol. Also, the EU's relations with Libya and Lebanon will be discussed to reduce irregular migration flows. The Undersecretary assured that there is no immediate threat to Europe, but Cyprus remains vigilant and has taken the necessary measures to prevent risks. Daily life in Cyprus has not been disrupted.
