Kazakhstan Appeals to US and EU for Oil Transit Assistance After Drone Attacks

Kazakhstan has appealed to the United States and the European Union for assistance in ensuring oil transit following drone attacks on a Black Sea terminal handling 1% of global supplies. At least two tankers were hit by unidentified drones, one of which was chartered by Chevron. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the increasing frequency of such incidents, which endanger international energy infrastructure, and called for close cooperation to prevent similar events in the future. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that a tanker was attacked by Ukrainian drones, while Ukraine has not commented on the incident. Kazakhstan exports 80% of its oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).
