Delays on Paphos – Polis Chrysochous Road: New Phase of Four-Lane Highway

The construction of the Paphos – Polis Chrysochous road has faced significant delays due to the termination of the initial contract with the previous contractor. The project was re-tendered in August 2025, and new bids are expected by the end of March 2026. The new phase of the project involves the construction of a four-lane highway from Stroumpi to Polis Chrysochous. The goal of the new phase is to improve road safety and enhance connectivity with the urban centers of the region. The construction of the four-lane highway is expected to facilitate access to Polis Chrysochous and contribute to the economic development of the area. Minister of Transport, Yannis Vafaedis, emphasized the importance of the project for the development of the region and committed to its immediate promotion. The completion of the Paphos – Polis Chrysochous road is a priority for the Ministry of Transport. The delay of the project had caused concern among residents and stakeholders in the area, as improving road connectivity is considered essential for the economic and tourism development of Polis Chrysochous and the wider region.
