Defamation Claimed by Tsikkini's Defense – Invocation of ECHR Jurisprudence

The defense of Nicoletta Tsikkini claims a practice of persecution against her, linked to her past posts. Her lawyer, Pampos Ioannidis, stated that they will respond in detail to the letter received by his client from the lawyer of the President's wife, which concerns the termination of Ms. Tsikkini's posts. According to the defense, the letter does not invoke criminal offenses against the First Lady, but concerns exceeding the limits in evaluating issues posted several months ago (from December 2024 to June 2025). Mr. Ioannidis emphasized that the First Lady's move to refer to old posts, after a public resignation and complaints, is questionable, as complaints should be submitted immediately. Additionally, he invoked the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which requires public figures to be tolerant of public criticism, even if it is excessive. Mr. Ioannidis will provide legal advice to Ms. Tsikkini, but does not believe there is a legal problem with the posts in question.
