Cyprus on Full Alert: Increased Security Measures and Support from Greece

The Cypriot government is on full operational readiness and coordinating all relevant services, taking all necessary measures due to the regional situation. According to Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, two unmanned aerial vehicles heading towards the British Bases in Akrotiri were addressed in a timely manner. Furthermore, the President of the Republic had a telephone conversation with the Greek Prime Minister and agreed to send two frigates of the Hellenic Navy to Cyprus, specifically the 'Kimon' frigate and another with a 'Kentavros' unmanned aerial vehicle countermeasure system. In addition, a pair of F-16 aircraft from the Hellenic Air Force will be sent to Cyprus as part of strengthening preventive measures and cooperation with Greece. The government is also in contact with other countries to further enhance security. The Spokesman emphasized the need for caution in the dissemination of information, so that it corresponds to the real facts and avoids the spread of false news. Details regarding the parking of the F-16s and the origin of the drones have not yet been announced, as they are being investigated.
