Cyprus Situation Under Control – "Immediate Priority is Effective Crisis Management"

Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos continues to give interviews to international media regarding the situation in Cyprus, following the incident with the Iranian drone near a British base. In an interview with the BBC, he stressed that the situation remains under control and life in Cyprus continues normally, despite the concern that has been caused. He pointed out that several alarms have been sounded, but citizens have shown resilience. Mr. Kombos referred to the strengthening of the capabilities of the Cypriot authorities to deal with such situations, based on the instructions of military experts. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the incident and the concerns it caused, emphasizing that the immediate priority is effective crisis management. Regarding the British military bases, the Minister stated that the issue raises questions and that a comprehensive assessment of the events will take place after the de-escalation of the situation. He also referred to contacts with his American counterpart, Mark Rubio, expressing the assessment that the crisis in the region will not end soon. Mr. Kombos highlighted the intense concern prevailing in the region due to issues such as energy, inflation and safety of navigation, which affect many countries. Cyprus is trying to manage the situation with composure and ensure stability in the region.
