The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, has categorically denied allegations of corruption following the release of a video. The video, posted on the X platform, allegedly shows the President's associates and political allies discussing with investors the possibility of gaining access to the President through financial donations to a children's charity fund headed by his wife. The case has led to the resignation of the President's Chief of Staff and the withdrawal of his wife from her position in the charity. The President has requested a full investigation by the competent authorities, with the assistance of foreign states and the European Union. The video was described by government sources as “malicious and edited” and part of a “hybrid attack”. The opposition is calling for a full clarification of the case, emphasizing the damage to the country's reputation ahead of the parliamentary elections.
