Lebanon: Israeli Tank Fire Falls '150 Meters' from UN Peacekeepers

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that an Israeli tank fired near its peacekeepers, a practice that has become “frequent to an alarming degree.” The peacekeepers had requested the Israeli tanks to halt their activity, but one of them fired three shells, two of which fell approximately 150 meters from the peacekeepers. UNIFIL condemned the attack as a “serious violation” of Security Council Resolution 1701, concerning the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel continues to occupy areas in southern Lebanon and carry out airstrikes, targeting infrastructure and members of Hezbollah.
