Deadline for Existing Renewable Energy Self-Consumption Scheme Extended to December 31st

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry has reminded the public that the deadline for submitting applications under the “Scheme for the Production of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources for Self-Consumption” (April 2024) is December 31st, 2025. From January 1st, 2026, new self-consumption systems will operate under the provisions of Regulatory Decision 02/2024 (K.D.P 376/2024), titled “Regulatory Framework for the Operation of Active Customers and Energy Self-Consumers from Renewable Energy Sources.” The decision marks a change in the support scheme for self-consumption, as the existing scheme provides specific incentives and facilities. The transition to the new framework is expected to affect investments in self-consumption systems, as the terms and conditions may differ. The Ministry refers to a clarifying announcement issued by CERA (Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority) on September 5th, 2025, which provides more details about the changes and procedures that will be in effect from January 1st, 2026. Timely submission of applications for the existing scheme is important for those wishing to benefit from the current incentives. CERA and the Ministry of Energy provide information and support for the correct completion and submission of applications.
