Mousiouttas: Partners informed about aspects of pension reform

The Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, informed the social partners about the basic aspects of the pension reform during the session of the Labour Advisory Body. He expressed optimism that the timetable for the submission of the legislation of the first pillar will be met by June in the new Parliament. At the same time, he referred to the upcoming discussion of the second pillar and its general outline, as well as the harmonizing bill for equal pay between men and women. Mr. Mousiouttas emphasized that the discussion focused on the sustainability and adequacy of benefits, as well as ensuring equal treatment of beneficiaries. The social partners had the opportunity to comment on specific parameters, and the Ministry's actuary began to answer their written questions. The discussion will continue at the next session, on March 16th. A total of three more sessions of the Labour Advisory Body are scheduled for March, with the pension reform as the main topic. The Minister of Labour expressed his optimism that the timetable will be met for the submission of the legislation of the first pillar in June and the completion of the discussion in the new Parliament by 2026, with implementation from January 1st, 2027.
