EU Imposes New Sanctions on Iran Over Human Rights Violations

The European Union has imposed new sanctions on 16 individuals and three entities in Iran, due to serious human rights violations. The sanctions target individuals involved in the suppression of protests in January 2026 and entities that contributed to the suppression of citizens, such as the Tehran Cyber Police and Naji Research and Development (NRDC), which developed a surveillance application for security forces. The sanctions include the freezing of assets and a ban on cooperation with EU companies.
