Ukraine's Zelenskyy Appoints Head of Military Intelligence as New Chief of Staff

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence, as his new chief of staff. The appointment follows the resignation of Andriy Yermak, the previous chief of staff, due to a corruption scandal under investigation. Budanov, 39, has gained a reputation for successfully conducting daring operations against Russia since the start of the conflict in 2022. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs greater focus on security issues, the development of its defense forces, and diplomatic negotiations, and that Budanov possesses the necessary experience and ability to achieve results. The official process for Budanov's appointment has begun, while Zelenskyy mentioned that an agreement to end the conflict is 90% ready.
