Netanyahu Aims to Reduce Israel's Reliance on US Military Aid

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated his hope to “gradually reduce” Israel’s dependence on US military aid over the next decade, aiming for complete independence. He emphasized that Israel should not rely on foreign military assistance, although he did not specify a timeline. Netanyahu mentioned informing US President Donald Trump during a recent visit that Israel appreciates the military aid it has received over the years, but has also matured and developed impressive capabilities. He announced a 350 billion shekel (110 billion dollar) investment in developing an independent defense industry. Israeli defense exports increased by 13% last year, indicating progress towards autonomy.
