Cyprus: Insufficient Evidence in Alleged Assault Case Against Paphos Mayor's Wife

The Legal Service has deemed the evidence in the alleged assault case against the wife of Paphos Mayor, Phaedon Phaedonos, insufficient to proceed with the case in court. Police have received published material and are evaluating it. Simultaneously, the case of alleged rape involving the same Mayor is expected to be registered before the Limassol Court in the coming days. Police have refrained from disclosing the charges allegedly faced by the Mayor, as he has not yet been formally charged. The complaints originate from both a businesswoman and the alleged victim. It is important to remember that guilt or innocence is determined by the Court, based on the presumption of innocence until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
