UN: Ukraine War Significantly Worsened - 2024 Deadliest Year for Civilians

The UN reports a significant worsening of the war in Ukraine, with increased attacks on civilians, energy infrastructure, and ports during the winter. 2024 was described as the “deadliest year” for civilians since the start of the full-scale invasion, with at least 14,999 deaths, including 763 children. Russia has intensified its attacks on energy infrastructure, leaving millions of Ukrainians without electricity, heating, and water. The use of a ballistic missile near the border with Poland is of particular concern. Greece, through its Permanent Representative to the UN, condemns the attacks and calls on Russia to end them.
