Eight Arrests in Pan-Cypriot Police Operations Overnight

The Cyprus Police carried out pan-Cypriot operations overnight, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals. The operations focused on preventing serious criminal activities, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order, with an increased police presence in key areas of urban areas. Four people were arrested in the province of Nicosia for driving under the influence of alcohol, while two were arrested in the province of Limassol, one for dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol, and one for assault and insulting a police officer. In addition, two people were arrested by members of the OMOD for similar offenses. During the checks, more than 1,140 vehicle inspections were carried out, resulting in more than 250 traffic violations. Most of the violations concerned driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the speed limit. 18 cars, one motorcycle and one electric bicycle were also impounded. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing and enhanced preventive plan of the Police, aimed at preventing crime and strengthening the sense of security of citizens.
