Ukraine: Nearly 60% of Kyiv Remains Without Electricity

Nearly 60% of Kyiv remains without electricity one day after Russian attacks on energy facilities, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Residents of Kyiv are facing severe difficulties due to frozen apartments and limited access to electricity, with outages lasting for hours or even days. These attacks are the most frequent in nearly four years. Zelenskyy stated that approximately 4,000 buildings in the city remain without heating, while the temperature has dropped to -12 degrees Celsius. Similar scenes are being recorded in the Kharkiv region, where 520,000 consumers are without power. Attacks were also reported in the Odesa region, with severe damage to an energy facility. The power outages have significantly impacted mobile services, with the largest provider reporting that 10% of its network is not functioning. The situation is worsening due to the fact that a large part of Ukraine's electricity generation capacity has been disabled by Russian attacks, leading to continuous outages even when power is restored.
