Partner of ADMIE to Spend $110 Billion Annually on China's Power Grid

China's State Grid Corporation, which manages the country's power grid and holds a 24% stake in ADMIE (the implementing body of the Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection), will spend $574 billion between 2026 and 2030 to upgrade China's power grid. This amount represents a 40% increase over the previous five-year period and reflects the government's decision to increase electricity generation from wind and solar energy. This corresponds to an average annual investment of $110 billion, a record annual expenditure for the Chinese power grid. The funding will be used to strengthen the electricity transmission network from west to east, using high-voltage lines to send electricity thousands of kilometers from the less populated western regions of China to the eastern metropolitan areas. State Grid will increase inter-provincial and inter-regional electricity transmission by 30% compared to 2025 levels, the report said. The spending will also be used to expand distribution networks in both urban and remote areas.
