Iranian President Appeals to Gulf Countries: “We Had No Choice” But to Attack

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed neighboring countries of Iran, stating that Tehran tried to prevent war through diplomacy, but attacks by the US and Israel left it “no choice” but to retaliate. He stated that he respects the sovereignty of neighboring countries and believes that regional security must be achieved through a collective effort. The comments came after a phone call with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, where he dismissed claims that Tehran had only targeted US interests in the country. President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran tried to prevent war, but attacks from the US and Israel forced the country to defend itself. His message to the Gulf countries appears to be an attempt to reassure neighbors, assuring them of Iran's peaceful intentions and desire for cooperation for regional security.
