Papadopoulos: Immediate Measures for Foot-and-Mouth Disease - Readiness to Support Tourism

The President of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, emphasized the need for immediate measures to address foot-and-mouth disease and readiness to support tourism during a tour of Paphos. He expressed satisfaction with the government's new support measures for the livestock industry, stressing the need to implement European protocols and provide effective compensation to affected farmers. He also referred to the possibility of creating a tourism support plan in the event of a prolonged crisis in the Middle East, calling for an immediate advertising campaign to restore Cyprus's image as a safe tourist destination. During his visit to Paphos International Airport, he found that work continued without interruption, while he mentioned the start of the second phase of the airport, which will upgrade the country's tourism product. Improving transport, especially air connectivity, is considered crucial for tourism development.
