Harry Maguire Sentenced to 15-Month Suspended Sentence for Mykonos Incident

English footballer Harry Maguire has been sentenced to a 15-month suspended sentence by a court in Syros for an incident that took place in Mykonos in August 2020. The conviction relates to three charges: non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery. Maguire denies the charges and plans to appeal to the Supreme Court. He was initially convicted of 21 months and 10 days suspended in 2020, but an appeal led to a retrial. The retrial had been postponed several times due to various reasons, such as lawyers' strikes and scheduling problems. Maguire did not appear in court in person, but was represented by his lawyers. Despite the conviction, Maguire is in the Manchester United squad for the Premier League match against Newcastle. He has refused to compromise and wishes to prove his innocence through legal means.
