Search Continues for Missing Russian Oligarch Vladislav Baumgertner in Cyprus

Cypriot authorities continue their search for 56-year-old Vladislav Baumgertner, former CEO of Uralkali, who has been missing since January 7, 2026, from Pissouri. Baumgertner previously made international headlines in 2013 when he was arrested in Belarus due to disagreements between Moscow and Belarus over the potash "cartel". He was accused of abuse of power and placed under house arrest, but the charges were dropped in 2015. The search is focused on a difficult coastal area near Pissouri, where the last signal from his mobile phone was detected. Rescue efforts are hampered by storms. Police are asking for the public's help with any information. It is noted that Uralkali and Belaruskali were involved in potash export issues, with the European Commission banning imports from Belarus after the invasion of Ukraine.
