Bill Proposed to Address Fire Safety in Hotels with Temporary Operating Permits

A bill has been submitted by DISY MP Kyriakos Hadjigiannis to strengthen fire protection in hotels and tourist accommodations. The proposal provides for the establishment of a special temporary operating permit regime for units that do not fully comply with existing legislation, provided that comprehensive fire protection plans are implemented. The aim is to address the chronic situation where hundreds of tourist units operate without full licensing. The Fire Service will determine specific requirements based on technical studies, without relaxing safety rules. The proposal is considered a realistic solution, in contrast to successive annual extensions, and serves both public safety and the national economy.
