Earthquake off the Coast of Crete - What the Geodynamic Institute Reports

An earthquake occurred off the coast of Crete this morning (March 16th). According to the Geodynamic Institute, the seismic tremor measured 4.1 on the Richter scale and had a focal depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 80 kilometers south-southwest of Chrysi Lasithiou. The Civil Protection reminds of the protection instructions in case of an earthquake, such as securing furniture, staying away from glass surfaces, and sheltering under sturdy furniture. It also recommends preparing with a portable radio, flashlight, and first aid kit. The earthquake comes a few days after strong seismic tremors in Evrytania and Epirus, which increases concern about seismic protection in Greece.
